Scott Kennedy

Bio

Scott Kennedy
In 1977 Star Wars premiered, Elvis died and Scott Kennedy was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.  In the thirty-one years since, Scott has kept himself pretty busy.  Bouncing around the globe from one adventure to another.
Scott knew from an early age that nine to five work wasn’t going to be his cup of tea.  After brief stints of packing grocery shelves and folding t-shirts and an even quicker stop at a pesticide factory (the chemical weapons plant and uranium mine weren’t hiring) it was time to go the way of the freelancer.
Along the way Scott picked up diploma’s in both Outdoor Pursuits from Mount Royal College in Calgary and Journalism from The Western Academy of Photography in Victoria, BC.
Scott now splits his time between his passions: writing, photography, guiding and production.  Scott’s writing and photography has appeared in several national and international publications, dealing  with a variety of subject matter from outdoor adventure, politics, music, film, art and everything in between. As a writer Scott has traveled the globe writing stories about his adventures. Scott chiefly works for Lonely Planet where he writes guidebooks and travel stories for their website.
Scott has worked behind the scenes on numerous large scale photo shoots over the years for such diverse clients as REI, Toyota and Air New Zealand, handling everything from location scouting to on the ground production and camera assisting.
As a mountain guide Scott handles mountain safety on set, has taught four year olds and seventy-five year olds to climb and can even explain how climbers get the rope to the top of the cliff.
In between all of this fun Scott manages to squeeze in some time for the odd adventure race, ice hockey game and trip to the beach. Scott lives in Queenstown, New Zealand with his wife Sophie.
