Christian, Alice & Scott in the Greenstone Valley

Scott Kennedy lives in Queenstown where he works as a freelance writer and photographer. Running, biking and climbing are not only his main subject matter but his passions too. Always keen for an adventure Scott was drawn to the idea of the Great Run Project from its inception. “For me to challenge myself and push my limits in such beautiful places feels truly like an honour. If our experience can inspire others to challenge themselves and find their own adventures then we will have achieved our greatest success.” Set to turn 30 during the GRP, Scott figures this will be a birthday he will never forget.

Alice Hill resides in Wanaka because it is her perfect playground. Abiding by a strict “no TV” policy in her home, there is always something to do in Wanaka that pertains to her mostly-outdoor orientated interests. At age 26, she works full time as an engineer between training for the New Zealand Women's Ultimate Frisbee team and a few craft projects on the side. “I’ve always enjoyed running recreationally but I’m not some superhuman endurance athlete like some of these elite multi-sporters around the place. Trail running really appeals to me because of the remote places you can get to. The running in New Zealand wilderness is unmatched which is why I can’t wait to get started on the Great Run Project—there are so many places in New Zealand that I have yet to see!”

Christian Martin also lives in Wanaka and at 31 years old is officially the grandpa of the group. After spending 40 hours a week stuck in an office, Christian loves spending his spare time exploring New Zealand's wilder areas. A classic 'weekend warrior', Christian participates in the odd race but more often than not runs randomly around Wanaka with the singular aim of finishing at a pub or a chippie. Gotta replenish those energy stores! "New Zealand's environment is perfect for outdoor adventure and is the primary motivator driving the GRP. We'll run through some spectacular landscapes and have our teamwork and physical endurance tested. It'll be tops!"
